We are so excited to introduce to you our newest Raintees ambassador. The lovely and inspiring Kristin McGee is a yoga and pilates instructor that is taking the fitness and wellness world by storm. She has appeared on Good Morning America, The CBS Morning Show, and other networks like CNN. She has also graced the pages of magazines such as Shape, Women’s Health, and In Style, and worked with celebrities like Tina Fey, Steve Martin, and Bethenny Frankel. We look to her daily for tips and motivation on how to live a healthy lifestyle, and we are proud to have her on our team. We caught up with her to find out more about her life, and we would love to share that interview with you here!
RainTees: How did you get started in health and fitness – yoga and Pilates?
Kristin McGee: I was always a very active child. I grew up in Idaho and played a ton of sports and danced and we ate very healthy as a family. When I moved to Manhattan in the early 90′s to attend NYU Tisch School of the Arts as an acting major, I discovered yoga and Pilates. I fell in love with them both and certified to teach upon graduating college. I thought I would just teach to support my acting career, but it soon became my full time passion and job!
RT: What is your favorite part of teaching and where are you based?
KM: I live in NYC. I teach all over the world though! My favorite part of teaching is the connections I make and the people I meet. I’ve had some of the most amazing clients and I form such incredible relationships. I also continue to form a better relationship with myself the longer I teach. I love that I can be an eternal student as well and through my teaching, constantly learn more and more every day. I also LOVE the fact I can be active all day long and won’t ever have to sit at a desk…I’m way too antsy and love to move and be on my feet!
RT: We, here at Raintees, are inspired by your commitment to living a healthy lifestyle. Do you have any advice for our fans that are looking to make some healthy changes?
KM: I think one of the most important things we can do is connect with our breathing. Once we really tap in to our own breath, we become aware of our inner potential. No one else can breath for us. When we learn to cherish our breath and control our breath, we make better decisions for ourselves. We feed ourselves well, we listen to our true hunger cues, we workout and stretch and move because we want to be able to take deeper, fuller breaths. We start to live more fully and we have fun! Health is all about happiness and every time we take a big breath in and fill up with positivity and exhale any negativity or stress, we feel HAPPY!
RT: What is your favorite RainTees design?
KM: I LOVE them all! I think the Loro Perico is one of my favorites though…I LOVE the lovebirds and the colors. This tank makes me feel so happy and inspired to continue to love myself and be as loving as I can to others.
RT: What is next for you?
KM: I just released my latest DVD, S3: strong, sexy, svelte, it’s a combo of yogatone strength, pilates and yogaflow. I have a yoga retreat to Laos in February and I will release another DVD next Spring. I’m ready to start a family and have some children and shoot some prenatal DVDs too!
